The Neighborhood Establishment

Clare here, one of JSP’s social media correspondents. It looks like The Lexington renovation and relaunch is underway and on a personal note, I couldn’t be more excited. My grandparents have been going to The Lexington since forever, ordering miniature white birthday cakes for my mother and her sisters on their birthdays and giant wedge salads with french dressing. As a kid when we would visit St. Paul, a visit to The Lexington was always on the list. It was the one night when we wore fancy clothes during a week filled mostly with hot summer days and ice cream sandwiches. When I moved to Minnesota for college, my grandmother would take me and friends for a dinner of steak during a period time when we were eating nothing but delivery pizza. And when it closed, my brother who lives in Southern California, and visits very rarely, definitely mourned.

Now I am sure that The Lex will be different–and definitely improved–with a roof top patio and new menu. But, the place that dotted my grandparent, parents, and my entire life will be there and I can’t wait to go back for dinner in 2015.
